5. Mazda MX-30 EV - Starting at $34,110

The Mazda MX-30 is the Japanese manufacturer's initial attempt at bringing Mazda goodness to the EV realm. But while the MX-30 compact SUV has the quality and design that we've come to expect from the brand, its lackluster 100-mile maximum driving range is a bit of a head-scratcher, especially considering what other less expensive options on this list are capable of!

4, Hyundai Kona Electric - Starting at $33,500

Hyundai has taken electrification by the horn, producing some of the most efficient EVs and hybrids on the market. The Kona Electric is no different. The well-known quality of Hyundai products is combined with the company's new daring styling directive and a great driving range conservatively estimated at 258 miles.

3. Mini Cooper SE - Starting at $30,900

The Mini Cooper SE comes in at number 3 on the list at just over the $30K mark. The undeniable character of Mini products is present with this EV offering, as well as available luxury options. Similar to the MX-30, the lower estimated driving range of the Cooper SE works against it. But the 110 miles are measured conservatively, meaning the real-world application will likely yield better results.

2. Nissan Leaf - Starting at $28,040

The Leaf has been a household name in the zero-emission realm for quite some time. And the latest iteration of the Nissan improves upon the proven formula with efficiency and practicality. Being one of the lowest-priced options on the market doesn't hurt its cause, either. The base model has a driving range of 149 miles, while the optional extended-range battery pack offers 215 miles.

1. Chevrolet Bolt EV / Bolt EUV - Starting at $26,500 / $27,800

Chevy's newest Bolt comes in two variations: EV and EUV. The EV is designed as an everyday commuter while the EUV (electric utility vehicle) has more of an SUV character to it, making it more fitting as an adventure machine. With starting prices of $26,500 and $27,800 respectively, the Bold EV and EUV aren't just the most affordable electric vehicles on the market, they're also highly efficient, with estimated driving ranges of 259 miles for the EV and 247 miles for the EUV.
