BMW iX xDrive50 - 86 MPGe (86/87)

It's safe to say that BMW's decision-makers have made some questionable calls in terms of the styling direction the manufacturer seems to have taken. Some folks love the unconventional aesthetic of these new Bimmers. Others see this as a measure by BMW executives to see how ugly they can make their cars before people stop buying them (you can count this writer among the latter group). Nonetheless, the iX xDrive50 (should probably shorten these names) is among the most energy-efficient luxury electric SUVs of the 2023 mode year.

P.S. Sorry for the apparent BMW hate... But just look at it!

Volvo C40 Recharge - 87 MPGe (94/80)

From an automaker with overstyled vehicles to one with very understated design philosophy, next up on the list is the Volvo C40 Recharge electric SUV. The compact SUV achieves an EPA-estimated fuel economy of 94 MPGe in the city and 80 on the highway.

Mercedes-Benz EQB - 96 MPGe (98/93)

The small, boxy Mercedes EQB electric SUV is the German make's most efficient electric SUV on the market with a combined economy of 96 MPGe. The compact package allows for it to carry a lower curb weight. But filling up the spacious cabin will likely drive that number down.

Tesla Model X - 102 MPGe (107/97)

The electric SUV that needs no introduction, The Tesla Model X is near the very top of the list of the market's most efficient electric SUVs. It's also one of the quickest. Granted, only the base model is the one with the 102 combined MPGe listed above. But the top-of-the-line Plaid trim isn't far off, getting 91 combined MPGe on the 22-inch wheels and 98 combined MPGe with the 20-inchers.

Audi Q4 e-tron: 103 MPGe (112/94)

With an ever so slight edge in the EPA-estimated fuel economy figures over the Model X, Audi's most efficient offering is the Q4 e-tron base model. Opting for higher trims and the Sportback version will mean lower MPGe, but still impressive from the brand with four rings.

Kia EV6 - 117 MPGe

I know what you're thinking. When did Kia become a luxury brand? Believe it or not, in their never-ending quest to find an identity that distinguishes them from their parent company Hyundai, Kia has tried their hand at building luxury vehicles a number of times. And the EV6 is probably the best one yet! It's tough to find someone who has many negative feelings toward the EV6. And that's because the Korean automaker pretty much nailed it in every category with this EV.
