There was recall on the electronic power steering for the 2007 TCH. I received a letter in the mail for the recall. However, I don't think all 2007 TCH had a EPS recall.

My 2007 Japanese built TCH had the same EPS failure while backing into a parking space. I had it towed to the dealer this morning and by 5:00 PM everything was fixed at no charge because of the 2009 recall of about 25,000 Japanese built TCH (and other Toyota/Lexus models) that suffered from bad EPS components. Kudos to Toyota and especially San Francisco Toyota for handling the repair in a timely and professional manner.

You are supposed to be able to enter your VIN at this Toyota Recall link to find out if your car is eligible for a recall fix.

If your car is out of warranty is it still eligible for the recall service?

I always thought if it was a safety issue they had to do them all, regardless of warranty. However, there was an article in the news this week about a lady who had her butt over heated by a seat warmer that burned through her seat. It was a VW, and while they had fixed them up to a certain point, they cut it off, and refused to fix her car. So she went public with a news investigation team. VW would not talk to the media, and a local dealer says they could do nothing because VW would not do it. Now I'm not so sure. This was in Canada. It may depend on your local laws.

I would expect with Toyota if you car VIN says it is recalled, they will do it.

I had the EPS recall work done on my 2007 recently. Being out of warranty wasn't an issue and it shouldn't be.

I was able to drive home and then to the dealership but it was quite a workout.

were you able to get your car fixed under manufacturer's recall program? I'm having the same problem with 2009 TCH at the moment and I will to have fore information before going to dealership for repair.

http://www.toyota.com/owners

Register an account and add your vehicle by VIN. If there are any SAFETY recalls applicable to your vehicle, they will be listed. ONLY SAFETY recalls have no mileage or time limit. People often confuse extended warranty or service campaigns for "recalls".

They are not the same.

The VIN search link in post #33 above still works.

Lastly, the EPS recall was ONLY for the 2007 and ONLY for certain VIN.
